Starting in Sailing March-14-2018

A student at Moody High School recently sent in this information and asked that we post the link to the article.  Please take a look and share it with all that you know that are interested in the sport of sailing.

Hi Rockport Yacht Club,
I go to Moody High School. As project for our mixed elective class this year, we were tasked to raise awareness on sailing and boating safety. Sailing sure is fun but it's not without risks. So it is our goal to increase people's knowledge and ensure that they have the tools to be safe.  Aside from participating in after-school activities, we are also asking sailing and boating clubs to help us boost online and social media awareness.
A recent article I found that I think may be useful especially to beginners ishttps://www.dietspotlight.com/sailboating-safety-guide-beginning-boaters/  Can I ask you to share it on your site?
Thank you and keep up the good work!

The Rockport Yacht Club was founded in 1969 as the Rockport Sailing Club. In 1993 the clubs scope of activities broadened to include Sail, Power, and non-boating members and a decision was made to change our name to the Rockport Yacht Club. We are a Texas chartered non-profit corporation serving Rockport, the Texas Gulf Coast, and the Coastal Bend. Our By-Laws define our organization and its structure.

The Rockport Yacht Club is a vibrant organization whose members support a variety of community and club events. The club has an extensive racing series both local "Clubhouse Races", "Lighthouse Races" and the offshore "Port Mansfield Regatta". The club organizes participation in other club's activities such as the Navy Regatta and the Harvest Moon Regatta. The club has social events weekly throughout the year. The club participates in Oysterfest, the 4th of July celebration, and Christmas with floats and lighted boat parades. More information, pictures, and future scheduling of those events are available by clicking on the "Activities" tab in the toolbar.

The current Clubhouse was purchased in 1984 and has gone through numerous changes. The last project was completed in mid 2003, and included expansion and remodeling that provided us with the wonderful facility we have today. Our clubhouse can be rented for business or social events; use the "Clubhouse" tab to fill out a request for a reservation.

The club is a member of the U.S. Sailing Association, the Texas Sailing Association, and the Yachting Clubs of America. Many yacht clubs will recognize our membership and will provide reciprocal privileges, but most require cash payments because our club does not guarantee payment of member tabs.

If, after browsing our site, you would like to become a member, go to the "Membership" tab and fill out an application. We would love to welcome you on board!
