Starting in Sailing March-14-2018

A student at Moody High School recently sent in this information and asked that we post the link to the article.  Please take a look and share it with all that you know that are interested in the sport of sailing.

Hi Rockport Yacht Club,
I go to Moody High School. As project for our mixed elective class this year, we were tasked to raise awareness on sailing and boating safety. Sailing sure is fun but it's not without risks. So it is our goal to increase people's knowledge and ensure that they have the tools to be safe.  Aside from participating in after-school activities, we are also asking sailing and boating clubs to help us boost online and social media awareness.
A recent article I found that I think may be useful especially to beginners ishttps://www.dietspotlight.com/sailboating-safety-guide-beginning-boaters/  Can I ask you to share it on your site?
Thank you and keep up the good work!

Awaken the Artist March 2011

Darlene and Tony Taylor kindly offered to conduct an acrylic painting class over two Saturdays beginning March 12th and ending March 19th 2011. The intent of the sessions is to help students focus on the basics of color, design, and composition. Darlene brought 30 years of higher education art teaching background and Tony offered 30 years of architecture professional experience to some 16 students. Darlene started with the fundamentals of the color wheel and a break down of color issues such as warm (aggressive), cool (receding), hue, tint, tone, shade, intensity and value. She had class members paint in primary and secondary colors on a color wheel exercising color schemes including triad, split complementary, complementary, mono-chromatic, analogous achromatic, and diad. She touched on the elements of design including line, shape, form, value, color, space and texture. She offered a guide line of steps to creating a great acrylic painting. Then for three hours we all painted an abstract from a picture we individually brought to class. She provided the brushes, paints, and paintable sheets along with other support materials. She provided detailed instructions a week before the first session regarding what we should do and bring to the first class. Everyone enjoyed the learning, fun and joking about our individual talents or lack there of. It was a great contribution to club members and guests.
